Paul M. Swinney, Jr., 90, passed away at Aspen Creek Senior Living Home in Anchorage, AK on October 28, 2022.
He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene, TX.
Paul was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 23, 1932 to Paul M. Swinney, Sr. and Leona M. Sauter Swinney. He attended Bosse High School (class of 1950) and graduated from the University of Evansville (class of 1954). He worked at Red Spot Paint Co. before entering into the United States Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant on October 10, 1954 and retired as a Major on January 1, 1975. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX; Tucson, AZ; Cheyenne, WY; San Angelo, TX; Goose Bay Air Force Base in Labrador Canada; Albany, GA; Honolulu, HI; Saigon Vietnam; Abilene, TX and Anchorage, AK. Paul met his wife Gail Rinehart Swinney at a drive-in restaurant in Evansville, Indiana where she was a car hop in the fall of 1950. They married March 21, 1954. They went on to have two children.
Paul and his family lived in Alaska from 1971-1974 and then resided back in Anchorage in 2019. Paul worked for Westico Marketing from 1975-1990 and was affiliated with the Lion's Club in Abilene, TX. His hobbies included antique clocks and clock and watch repair. As a kid he enjoyed stamp collecting and model airplanes. He loved to fish.
Survivors include his son David W. Swinney; daughter Paula F. Meisler; daughter-in-law Debbie Swinney; son-in-law Marty Meisler; grandson Kris Swinney (Carrie Lang); granddaughter Jessica Swinney (Clinton Dahl); grandson Jason Meisler (Marche Meisler); granddaughter Angela Meisler; great grandchildren Katelynn Bren, Kari McKay, Camryn McKay, Derrek Dahl, Easton Swinney, Mason Meisler; and Callon Meisler-Nichols; and good friend Rose Bounds.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul M. Swinney, Sr.; mother Leona Sauter Swinney; and wife Gail Rinehart Swinney.
