Marcelino (M.C.) Moreno Sr., 88, of Abilene, passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday November 4, 2017. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday November 8, 2017 at Saint Vincent Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Dr. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Marcelino was born April 26, 1929 to Leandro and Estefana Moreno. He was born and raised in Merkel, Texas where he met and married Nettie Jane on August 1, 1947. He worked doing paint and body work for Milze Brown Paint and Body Works for 25 years, leaving there to start his career for the City of Abilene Water and Sewer department and retired in 1993. He loved to play and watch baseball and played semi pro for years. He loved to go hunting with his boys, fishing and having cook outs at his el rancho. Above all he loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Jane Moreno; his son, Jimmy Moreno (Jimbo); his brothers, Albino, Candelario, and Jesse; his sisters, Cecilia, Maria, and Apolonia; and his beloved long time pet, Coco.
He is survived by his children, Marcelino Jr., Isaac, Cathie Lanthan and husband John, and Joe Martin and wife Catherine; five grandchildren, Christa Loyer, David Michael Rios, Jimmy (Bubba) Jr. Moreno, Joe Moreno Jr, and Martha Ward; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks and appreciation to his devoted caregiver, Cindi Neumann whom we would have been lost without and a special thanks to Hendrick Hospice for their compassion and care during his last days.
