Margaret Schkade

Margaret Lucille Hinkle Schkade, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 27th at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley RD with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Margaret was born and raised in Abilene. She married Paul Middleton Hinkle on July 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1962. She met who would be her second husband, Richard M. Schkade when she took a job keeping his children after he too had lost his spouse. They were married on July 28, 1965. Margaret was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene.

Margaret was known to many as the hostess with the mostess. She loved to entertain family and friends and especially loved putting together her annual New Years Eve party which at times would have over 200 guests.

Survivors include her children, Bob Hinkle and wife Arlene of Milton, Florida, Dennis Hinkle and wife Theresa of Keller, Texas, Joyce Dexter and husband David of Alexandria, Virginia, Dennis Schkade and wife Debbie of Lawn, Diane Willson and husband Wes of Abilene and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who knew her as grandmommy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, Building Improvement Fund, 2801 Antilley RD, Abilene, TX 79606.
