Margaret Jean Thomason, 92, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Abilene, Texas. A private family graveside was held.
Margaret was born July 3, 1929 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to William and Doris Standridge. After she graduated from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, she taught elementary school for many years. She was a loving mother who taught her daughters to be very strong women. Even while working and supporting her husband's career as a football coach, she had time to sew clothes for her girls as well as do farm chores like hauling hay, working cattle and gardening.
Margaret was an active member of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, Oklahoma, and Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Thomason, and her sister, Dolores Van Horn.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Janet Freeman and her husband Dick of Sherman, Jean Smith and her husband Jack of Abilene, and Lou Ann Watson of Abilene, her grandchildren, Mark Freeman and his wife Lisa, Amy Jones and her husband Austin, Jay Smith and his wife Julia, Jeff Smith, Rebecca Abraham and her husband Shawn, Katy Dunn and her husband Adam, and Riley Watson, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sandra Hazelip for her ongoing help and support through Margaret's Alzheimer's journey. Also thank you to Hendrick Hospice Care for the great care in these last days.
