Margarete Sullivan, 68, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, while visiting friends and family in Germany.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Funeral Mass with Father Robert Bush and Deacon Peter Ballaro officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 18 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1451 S. 8th ST. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Prayer.
Margarete was born October 11, 1939 in Konigwusterhausen, Germany. She married Richard Sullivan on July 9, 1960.
Margarete is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Sullivan of Abilene; two sons, Richard Jr. of Clovis, NM and Michael of Abilene; one granddaughter, Aerika; one brother, one sister, 3 brother-in-laws and 1 sister-in-law; and adopted sisters, Shirly A.Young of Scott City, Missouri and Kirsten Bush of Abilene.
Margarete was known for her many skills, such as cooking, cross stitching, thankful spirit, positive attitude, strong faith and love of family and friends. She believed life was a gift to be enjoyed, and embraced it to the fullest each and every day. Besides spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed the Red Hat Society, BSP Laureate Gamma Sigma Chapter, cross stitching with her friends every week, playing bridge, bowling, golfing, and volunteering at local hospitals. She was also active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program RSVP.
