Margie Aleene Selden, aged 88, passed away on June 29, 2023, in Abilene, Texas. Born on January 18, 1935, in Houston, Texas, Margie was a cherished daughter of Burnel and Aleene Selden. In 1944, her family relocated from Houston to Abilene.
Margie received her education at Abilene High School, graduating with the Class of 1957. Determined to broaden her horizons, she pursued further studies and obtained a certificate from Draughan's Business College in 1960.
While Margie never married, her love and affection were showered upon her extensive family. She adored her nieces, nephews, and other relatives, cherishing the time spent together and creating lasting memories. Margie's unwavering commitment to her loved ones was a testament to her kind and caring nature.
Margie was a member of Hamby Methodist Church which had an essential role in her life. She became a self-philanthropist and even with limited resources donated to the Humane Society, the Food Bank, the Heart Association, St. Jude's Children Hospital, the Salvation Army, and Veterans. Additionally, Margie selflessly volunteered with Care Inn of Abilene, demonstrating her compassion for those in need.
Margie's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burnel and Aleene Selden, as well as her brother, Burnel C. Selden, and her 2 sisters, Emily Gage, and Dorothy Selden.
Although Margie has left this earth, her memory will forever be cherished by her numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A graveside service to honor Margie's life will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park, where family and friends will come together to bid their final farewell. As we gather to remember Margie, let us find solace in the beautiful memories we shared and draw strength from the love she bestowed upon us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
