Maria Badillo

Maria Del Rosario Badillo, age 66, died peacefully on April 24th, 2016 at her home in Abilene, after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born on January 10th, 1950 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of Victor Rodriguez and Amelia Herrera.

In April 1967 she married her husband, Martin Badillo. Over the years they had three sons; Victor Martin, Xavier, and Adrian. In 1977, they settled in Abilene to make their life.

Maria enjoyed singing, dancing, and had an insatiable appetite for learning. She took great delight in reading and relished her books, as well as physical fitness. This included playing recreational volleyball and soccer.

Maria was an active member of St. Vincent Palotti Catholic Church. Evangelizing for the Catholic Faith she was the true definition of a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Maria was kind, loving, and genuine. When she said hello or asked "how are you doing?" it was sincere. She was truly a blessing to us all.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband Martin Badillo and three sons; Victor Martin Badillo and fiancée Rehilda De La Cruz, Xavier Badillo and wife Lisa, and Adrian Badillo. She has six grandchildren; Jerron Hensley, Kayla Howard, Miranda Badillo, Brandi Coria, Chris Badillo, and Marissa Badillo, and great grandchildren Dulce Coria. Also her sisters and brothers, Maria Elena Gonzalez, Gracela Gandara, Idalia Munoz, Victor Sergio Rodriguez, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, Maria De Lourdes Monsivais, Martha Patricia Hernandez, Juan Gabriel Rodriguez, Susana Flores, Juanita Griselda Garcia, and Laura Aracely Martinez. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Vincent Palotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Drive. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
