Maria Gonzales

Maria Amelia Gonzales, devoted wife, and a loving mother of eight went to be with the Lord and her husband on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with interment following at Highland Cemetery in Stamford. Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 6:008:00 PM .

Maria Amelia Gonzales was born October 10, 1934, in Brownsville, Texas to Sotero and Guadalupe Zavala. She married Braulio Gonzales on May 10, 1950. Maria was a homemaker who loved the Lord, and adored her children. She was always resourceful with what little she had. She was an amazing cook, seamstress, and enjoyed woodworking.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Braulio Gonzales infant son, Juanito Gonzales as well as parents four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include six brothers and one sister her children, Braulio Gonzales, Jr. Mary Ann of Abilene, Florentino Gonzales Shelia of Arizona, Guadalupe Gonzales Isabel of Abilene, Irma Cordero Richard of Abilene, Hector Gonzales of Eastland, Helen Rosas of Abilene, and Eva Hernandez Oliver of Eastland the sunshine of her life, 25 grandchildren and 43 greatgrandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sam Daggubati, Dr. Larry Lin, and Integra Hospice care. We are and forever will be grateful for Windcrest Alzheimers Center. The nurses were truly her angels of mercy. The staff including: CNAs, social workers, administration, housekeeping, and dietary were all outstanding.
