Maria Alicia Rodriguez, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 17, 2025, in Abilene, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, also in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Alicia was born on April 18, 1941, to Mauricio and Sabina Valdez in Mexico. On May 19, 1962, she married the love of her life for 56 years, Antonio C. Rodriguez Sr., and together they built a family rooted in love and faith. Alicia and Antonio shared many cherished years together until his passing.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising their seven children to know and love the Lord. Alicia exemplified the qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman—dedicated, nurturing, and faithful.
She had a love for plants, flowers, and reading her Bible, which brought her peace and joy. Alicia also enjoyed collecting roosters and swans, and she took great pride in sewing and embroidering special keepsakes for her family. A clean and welcoming home was very important to Alicia, and she instilled this value in her children, who continue to uphold her legacy.
A devoted member of Life Church for 28 years, Alicia served faithfully as a teacher and greeter, sharing her unwavering faith and love for God with all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio C. Rodriguez, Sr.; her parents, Mauricio and Sabina Valdez; and her son, Guadalupe (RV) Rodriguez.
Alicia is survived by her children, Blanca Hayslip and husband Charles, Martha Rodriguez and husband Rolando, Antonio (Tony) Rodriguez Jr and wife Nellie, Ana Maria Fraire, Enedelia (Natalie) Rich and husband Kenneth; and Javier Rodriguez; 20 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Alicia’s memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her beautiful soul and strong faith made her a beacon of light and inspiration.
"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'" - Proverbs 31:28-29
