Maria Velasquez

Maria G. Velasquez, 85, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Arlington. Her funeral service with Ezekiel Pecina and Brian Daniel officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 17, 2010 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Garden of Gethsemane at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday with Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Maria was born in Mexico on May 8, 1925 the daughter of Jesus Calderon Garcia and Belia Rosales Garcia. She worked many years in civil service at the Dyess Inn and later spent several years working in housekeeping at Hendrick Medical Center. She was the widow of Juan M. Velasquez. Maria was always very active in church and was affiliated with the Assemblies of God.
Survivors include her children, Olga M.V. Trinidad of Arlington, Connie Reyes of Abilene, Herminia V. Daniel and husband Noel of Abilene, Juan G. Velasquez and wife Amelia of Garland, Freddy G. Velasquez and wife Linda of Abilene brothers and sisters, Benjamin Garcia and Pablo Garcia both of Denton, Jesus Garcia, Guadalupe Varela and Belia Gonzales all of Mexico, and Maria Louisa Soria of Ft. Worth 17 grandchildren, 39 greatgrandchildren, 20 greatgreat grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, parents, a son, Joel G. Velasquez, and siblings, Francisco Garcia, Samuel Garcia, Rebecca Daniel, Margarita Escobedo and Juanita Avilzo preceded her in death.
