Mrs. Huffman was born Marie Davis on April 11, 1925 in Yamacraw, Kentucky. She was born to William and Srepty Davis and had one brother and 11 sisters. She was literally a Coal Miners Daughter, as her father, William Davis, was the Senior Mining Engineer for the Stearns Coal and Mining Company.
Mrs. Huffman is predeceased by her husband, retired U. S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Ralph H. Huffman, her son, Ronnie Woodrow, and her daughter, Debera Huffman Harris, all of Abilene, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Heleana M. Harvey of Blanding, Utah two sons, Gary N. Huffman of Los Angeles, California and Marcus B. Huffman of Simpsonville, South Carolina 12 grandchildren many greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Her travels with Ralph, her husband, began at Andrews Air Base in Washington, D.C. and included time at the Tachikawa Air Base outside of Tokyo, Japan, Donaldson Air Base in Greenville, South Carolina, and Hill Air Base in Ogden, Utah. While Ralph Huffman was deployed to Bien Hoa, Viet Nam, the family resided in Bowling Green, Kentucky before moving to Orlando, Florida at McCoy Air Base. Ralph Huffman retired at Bergstrom Air Base in Austin, Texas after 35 years of service.
Marie instilled into all of her children a strong Christian work ethic, and she was the glue that kept the family together. No matter where they lived, she made sure they attended church and served others. She taught Sunday School to high school students and visited the elderly and sent them encouraging notes.
In her final days, she had two great friends and helpers: Glenda Woodrow, her daughterinlaw, and Cai Wilson, both of Abilene, Texas. She was a member of Caps Baptist Church and Ridgemont Baptist Church both in Abilene where she had many friends.
The most important element of Maries life was her love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, with Whom she is now resting peacefully.
