Marie Goolsby Kinney, 86, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Crescent Heights Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Marie was born on March 7, 1932 in Muleshoe, Texas to the late Roy Hollis Goolsby and Iva Mae Childers. She married James Richard "Dick" Kinney on August 5, 1950 in Roby, Texas. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage until Dick's passing on January 6, 2019. She worked as a Cotton Classer for 17 years for the USDA, cotton division. Marie was President of Texas Municipal Police Wives Association and held all other offices in the association throughout the years. She was an active and longtime member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church. She taught preschool, VBS for over 40 years and was coordinator of Mother's Day Out. Marie was a Cub Scout den mother and a leader in the Boy Scouts. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her children, "Rick" Richard Kinney and wife Doris, "Ed" Kinney and wife Billie Jean, "Mike" Kinney and wife Joy, "Billy" Kinney and wife Teresa, Karen Kinney Smith; 13 grandchildren, Crystal Fiocchi and husband Lee, Celeste Kinkade, Chandra Smith and husband Cole, Jason Smith and wife Jennifer, Kayla Slack and husband Scott, Katie Morgan and husband Ryan, Johnna Davis and husband Arthur, Joshua Kinney and wife Elisabeth, Nicholas Kinney, Mikala Kinney, Shayla Fine and husband Landon, Kendra Ross and husband Andy, Cheyenne Weems and husband Luke; 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Marie was also preceded in death by a brother, Lee Roy Goolsby and 2 sisters, Helen Goolsby and Belle Goolsby.
