Marie was born on December 31, 1910 to Byrla Atta Mosby Cromwell and Charles Fredrick Cromwell in Arlington, Kentucky. The family moved to Stephens, Arkansas five years later on the advice of their doctor who was concerned for Maries health. Obviously, it was a good move.
Marie and Douglas O. Mann were married in 1929 in Camden, Arkansas, having met at Camden Hospital where she was working as a nurse and he was employed as an ambulance driver.
The family moved a number of times as Douglas worked in construction, first with his father, then on WPA projects and next with International Paper Company, Southern Kraft Division, at 7 of their 8 locations. He also owned a dry cleaning business in Greenville, Texas and worked in hospital maintenance in Midland and finally as supervisor of maintenance for Howard Discount Stores, located in Texarkana. He died in Fort Worth in 1988.
Marie was supportive and active as the family enjoyed the changes in environment and culture as they moved from place to place. She worked as a nurse in Camden, Arkansas; a teacher in Panama City, Florida; and helped in the dry cleaning business in Greenville, Texas where she began a long and enjoyable career as a RealtorBroker. Marie also worked in that profession in Abilene, Midland and Texarkana and was active in many community activities. Faithful attendance and involvement in church related activities were always primary in her life. She was currently a member of the University Church of Christ in Abilene.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Florence Cromwell Walker and husband, Abe.
Survivors include her sister, Freda Cromwell Field of Mesquite; brother, Charles F. Cromwell and wife, Ruth of Lubbock; daughter, Glynatta Mann Richie and husband, Albert of Fort Worth; son, Lawrence Larry Mann and wife, Zerita of Abilene; 7 grandchildren, Priscilla Richie Pacheco and husband, Don of Justin, Texas, Jeff Mann and wife, Karen of Palmdale, California, Scott Mann and wife, Lezlie of Chantilly, Virginia, Linda Mann Zagorski and husband, Drew of Beaverton, Oregon, Brenda Richie Benge of Lubbock, and Jennifer Richie Prause and husband, Al of Beaumont.
