Marilyn Buchanan

August 29, 1930 — July 5, 2024

Marilyn Sue Everist Buchanan died on July 5, 2024, at the age of 93. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus and was thrilled to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born to Angie and Bryon Everist in Oberlin, KS on August 29,1930 as a twin to her brother Marvin. She was raised in Oberlin, KS and graduated from Decator County High School in 1948. She lived in Topeka, KS, Corpus Christi, Richardson, Austin, Lubbock, and Abilene, TX. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, oil painting, ceramics, quilting, and cooking throughout her life and shared her talents with many. She worked 10 years at the UT-Austin Pharmacy School and 10 years for the Texas Tech Nursing program.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her other siblings, Margie Nitsch, Don Everist, Dorothy Hague and Marvin Everist. She is survived by her 4 children: Craig (Maggie) Edwards; Mark (Pamela) Edwards, Marsha (Steve) Rutland, and Eric (Jon) Edwards plus 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you is extended to Gracie Williams for all her care and friendship to Marilyn over the past 6 years, and to the wonderful staff at Lyndale Senior Living and Hospice of the Big Country.

A memorial visitation will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home, Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 12-2pm. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Big Country or West Texas Rehab Center.
