Marilyn was born on November 8, 1936 in San Angelo the only child of Virgil L. Jones and Marjorie Gay Jones. Growing up, she lived in various places while her father spent his career serving in the U.S. Air Force but a big portion of her childhood was spent in San Angelo as she would choose to stay with her grandparents if she wasnt fond of where her father was stationed. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1955 and attended Nursing School at Shannon Hospital for a short while before moving to Abilene to attend Draughons Business College in 1956. Shortly after moving to Abilene, she met and fell in love with Paul D. Warren and they were married on April 19, 1957 at Dyess Air Force Base.

In 1964, Marilyn took a job at GAC Finance, a position she would prove to be very good at. The company changed names several times throughout her career but by 1969, Marilyn had been promoted to Manager, a position she held until her retirement from MFC Financing in 1999. Over the years Marilyns customers at the finance company came to know her as both someone who would hold them accountable for loan repayment and someone who would go to great lengths to help them and their families.

Marilyn was loved by all she was always willing to help anyone and everyone and never wanted to be bragged on or given recognition for her efforts. She was born to shop and refused to pay full price for anything learning at an early age shopping with her mother in the Philippines to bargain with store owners. She loved to travel and had enjoyed trips to New Zealand, Australia and Washington DC and countless trips in support of Paul as he accepted many awards and positions as part of the Masonic Lodge.
