Marion Buddy Conner Jr., 94, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at a Nursing facility. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, 608 North 7th Street Abilene, TX, with Reverend Andrew L. Penns officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm Friday, July 18, 2014 at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mr. Buddy Conner was born in Ledbetter, Texas on October 30, 1919 to the late Marion Conner Sr. and Maggie Coumpy. He married Ozeal Lewis on July 19, 1940. He was a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.
Sgt. Marion Buddy Conner, Jr. 4210th served in the Army of the United States as a World War II Veteran. He was awarded GCM, AP, Victory Medal and American Theater AsiaticPacific Theater Good Conduct He loved to fish, cook, tell lots of jokes and stories. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sitting on the porch fellow shipping with whomever would stop by was the thing he loved to do. Buddy was a happy man and even when he was in pain he still found a way to smile and crack a joke. His favorite saying was Kick It Back and the family would say AGAIN
Preceded in death, his parents, wife Ozeal Conner, 2 daughters, Lavern Thomas and Dionne Gail Conner, 2 sons, Marion Conner and Garylen Pimpton, 5 sisters, Octavia Byrd, Nannie Conner, Christina Collins, Annie Mae Wiley and Julia Collins, 2 brothers Lee Van Conner and Hillard Conner
Survivors include 3 daughters, Ruby Conner Morris, Octavia Conner, Vanessa Pimpton, 4 sons, Douglas Conner Toni, Ocie Conner Pearly, Bobby Conner Karen and Terry Conner. Soninlaw, Odell Thomas, Brother inlaw, Johnny Byrd, Sisterinlaw, Helen Conner, Daughterinlaw, Helen Pimpton. 30 grandchildren, 56 greatgrandkids 20 greatgreatgreat grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
