Martha Breeding

Martha Jean “Granny” Breeding, 87, of Abilene passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Granny was born on August 6, 1934, in Baird, TX, to the late Alexander Bruce and Addie Bell Franklin. She married Robert Stanley Breeding on March 17, 1951, in Baird, TX. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage until Robert passed away on July 27, 1991. Granny was a military wife and homemaker. She loved and supported her family in all their activities. She was an active and longtime member of Northside Baptist church. Granny enjoyed working with ceramics and loved her cats.

Granny is survived by her children, Beverly Smith, Leonard Breeding; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Randi Mooney and husband Kevin, Shawn Breeding, Tabatha Bales; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mooney, Brayden Mooney, Benjamin Smith, Grayson Smith, Tru Smith, Atley Smith; sister, Willie Belle Laake and husband Floyd; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Granny was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Irene Bruce, Dorothy Mae Oliver; 2 brothers, Alex James Bruce and John Alonzo “Scoopy” Bruce.
