Martha Herold

August 14, 1936 — April 18, 2010

Martha L. Herold, 73, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5 till 7 PM on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Her graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Martha was born August 14, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa where she grew up and graduated from North High School. She married Richard E Herold on April 3, 1955. She has called Abilene home since 1960 even though they lived in many places as Richard served our country in the United States Military. She was a dedicated Cub Scout leader from 1960 through 1975 with the Chisholm Trail Council. She was an avid bowler and was a member of many bowling leagues, even bowling from her wheelchair in the Sunday No Tap league in 2001. She enjoyed woodcraft projects and hobbies, going to flea markets and spending time with her family.
Martha is survived by one daughter, Kendel Herold two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jacob Herold and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Randall Herold four grandchildren, Garrison Balusek, Andre Balusek, Karon Herold, Jordan Herold and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Herold.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Texas Trail Council, 1208 N. 5th Street, Abilene, TX 79601
