Mary Williams

Mary A. Williams, 93, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Abilene. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM today, Tuesday, March 6th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mary was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 24, 1918 the daughter of Stanislaus James Gruzs and Anna Ceranowska Gruzs. She married Harold E. Williams in Florida on May 22, 1943 and together they owned several grocery stores, the last one being Olive Center Market in Bakersfield, California. Mary has lived in Abilene since 1975. She enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Survivors include her son, Doyle Williams of Abilene sisters, Cecelia Melcavage of Aberdeen, Maryland and Helen Bricker and husband Harry of Baltimore, Maryland nephew, Robert Bricker and niece, Christine Bricker both of Baltimore, Maryland and cousins, Gerald Gafford of Austin, Kent Gafford of Houston and R.O. Williams of Bakersfield, California and Zurl and Laurie Ince of Abilene.
