Mary Hyatt

March 4, 1942 — December 5, 2007

Mary Kathleen Hyatt, 65, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 in Abilene. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 11 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with inurnment following in Elmwood Memorial Park.

On March 4, 1942, Mary Kathleen was born to Herbert and Genevieve Horn of Norwalk, Connecticut, the oldest of three children. While growing up in Norwalk, she met and fell in love with her childhood sweetheart, Robert Alan Hyatt, whom she married on February 11, 1961. Bob and Kathy had three children, Debbie, Ron, and Lori. Kathy was a smart, beautiful woman whose greatest pleasure came from making a home for her family. She raised her three children, grandbabies, and the children of family friends. Her door was always open and her home full of love. She knew everything. She also loved animals, and if it were not for Bob, she would have had a zoo. Kathy was also an amazing cook who always had the kitchen smelling good. Both she and her cooking will be missed by her family, friends and so many others.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Bob Hyatt of Abilene; her three children, Debbie Lyn Hyatt and friend, Gary Kalmus of Abilene, Ronald Curtis and wife Cherie of Sanger, and Lori Jean Todd and husband Pete of Abilene; one brother, Glenn Horn of Jacksonville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Ashley Hyatt, Amber, Robert Travis Todd, and Jennifer Calderon; and special friends, Betty Dave Rae of Abilene.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory, Abilene, TX 79601 or West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
