Mary Kathleen Ingram, 81, passed away on October 13, 2013 with her family at her side in Abilene. Funeral services officiated by Glyn Cavitt will be held on October 16, at 1:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Highway 277 South.
Mary was born in Jones County to Samuel Lee Ward and Gertrude Ward on July 10, 1932. She graduated from Merkel High School. She married Jack Tarpley in 1950 and together they had three children Gary William Tarpley, Karen Dru Tarpley and Sharon Sue Tarpley. On August 19, 1960 she married Mitchell Ingram and they had one beautiful daughter Lisa Kathleen Ingram to complete their family. She and Mitchell raised the four children in Abilene and they resided in Abilene until her death.
Mary was a seamstress for Lankfords, and worked for Minters Department Store in the gift department. She also received her real estate license. Mary and Mitchell were selfemployed for many years with rental property. She was an active member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene and the Rose Park Senior Citizens Organization. They loved to travel and spent many summers at the beach in Galveston, South Padre Island, Harlingen, Brownsville, Hawaii. They enjoyed timeshares and spent many happy weeks in Branson Missouri, Conroe, and Colorado. They often included their children in these trips. They loved to cruise and took the entire family on a cruise in 2004. Mary loved children and babies and would always want to hold and kiss the grandchildren and great grandchildren when they visited.
She is survived by husband, Mitchell Ingram of Abilene children, Lisa Richard Arrington of Abilene, Sharon Jerry Don Smith of Abilene, Gary Tarpley of Houston, and Karen Sammy Davis of Clute, TX grandchildren, Todd Church, Trey Church, Chad Hasty, Chris Smith, Heather Tarpley, Adrienne OKeefe, Shelly Tarpley, Autumn Ann Smith great grandchildren, Austin Church, Addison Church, Autumn Marie MacDonald, Charly Hasty, Dane Smith, Scout Smith, Ian Clarke OKeefe, Mabel Corrine OKeefe sister, Elsie Gary Jones of Bossier City, LA sisterinlaw, Christine Webb and brotherinlaw, John Ingram, sisterinlaws, Nita Ward, Teletha Ward and many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Billie Lawson and Mary Meadows.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Zachary Church her parents brothers, Durl Ward, Kenneth Ward, and Rayford Ward sister, Jean Stout nephews, Steve Herring and Tony Ward.
