Mary T. Loya, 79, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6 till 7 PM on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 south. Her funeral service will be 10 AM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Gethsemane Spanish Assembly of God, 2001 Park Avenue, with Reverend Samuel Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mary was born May 26, 1930 in Clifton, TX to Juan and Cruz Tarango. She married Natibida Loya in San Saba, TX in 1945 and moved to Abilene in 1946 to raise the family. She worked at several places throughout the years including The Windsor Hotel, West Texas Medical Center, and Hendrick Medical Center for 20 years. She was a very dedicated volunteer at Sears Park Senior Center and was awarded the most outstanding Volunteer of the year in 2009. She was a member of Gethsemane Spanish Assembly of God for many years. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, quilting and collecting rocks. All pets could find a good home with her especially her special Chihuahuas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Mary is survived by six children, Juan Loya and wife Marjorie, Samuel Loya and wife Josefina, Joel Loya, Elisa Sosa and husband Isreal, Mary Helen Clevenger and husband Don, Stella Lopez and husband Chris One brother, Sixto Tarango and wife Juanita 14 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughterinlaw, Catalina Loya one brother, Domingo Tarango.
