Mary Elizabeth Markley of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.
Mary was born March 11, 1936 in Seattle, Washington to Perry and Germaine Sacksteder. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and often played these roles for many others in need that crossed her path. She first married Bruce Martin and together had their 3 sons. She later married Ned Markley where she inherited 5 bonus children. Mary was a gentle, kind soul that always had a positive outlook on life and saw the silver lining in every situation.
For the majority of her adult career, Mary worked for Albertsons and Microsoft. She had a passion for reading at a young age and read over 500 books alone in the last two years of her life. Her love for animals was strong but nothing quite measured up to her muffin, a cat that lived to be over 20 years old. Ned and Mary lived in Bothell, Washington for several years before they decided to move to Ocean Park, Washington on the Long beach Peninsula. Many memories were made there with dear friends and family, old and new. They loved to cook homemade meals, entertain guests, sing karaoke at the Moose Lodge and play at the beach. It was harder for Mary to get around as she got older because of her need for extra oxygen, but she loved the Lord, and made a point to attend church any chance she could get.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Martin; Husband, Ned Markley; youngest son, Daniel (Danny) Martin; parents, Perry and Germaine Sacksteder, brother, Richard (Dick) Sacksteder; sisters, Jacqueline Adams, and Lois Marion.
She is survived by Her sons, Steve Martin and wife Robyn, Joseph Martin and wife Carol; her daughter-in-law, Sally Zeigler (Wife of Danny); 5 bonus children, Brian Markley and wife Kathy, Kathy Markley, Larry Markley and wife Mary, Laurie Furrer and husband Bruce, Gini Schacker and husband Ed; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
