ARLINGTON Mary R. Martinez, 85, entered peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
FUNERAL: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3rd at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church in Abilene, Texas. Interment: Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd at Elmwood Funeral Chapel, with a rosary following at 5:30 p.m.
Mary Ramirez Martinez was born August 5, 1927, in Rotan, Texas. She was united in marriage to Emilio Martinez on June 20, 1948 in Rotan. Mary and Emilio were blessed with nine children to enrich their lives. She devoted her life to God, family, friends and work. Mary loved caring for and teaching children, and was an excellent cook and an outstanding seamstress and crafter.
Mary dedicated her life and her love to God actively in service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan for many years and then at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church in Abilene. In 2006 after moving to Arlington, she continued to honor her commitment to praise and glorify the Lord at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mary was a constant source of strength and comfort to many, teaching about faith and trusting in Gods will, with time spent daily in meditation and prayer for family and friends. The treasures of her heart will always be remembered and seeds planted in our lives blossom in days to follow.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and other family members, as well as by her beloved husband Emilio in 1999 after over fifty years of marriage.
SURVIVORS: Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish her memory include her sons, Kenny and wife Vickie, A.J. and wife Linda, Matthew and wife Esmeralda daughters, Ana Martinez and husband John Larson, Bell Moore and husband Randy, Barbara Zekus, Patricia Martinez and husband Douglas Tooley, June Brown and husband Bill, and Nancy Black and husband Danny seventeen grandchildren sixteen greatgrandchildren one sister, Jessie Olvera and husband Gilbert numerous nieces and nephews and countless other family and friends who loved her dearly.
