Mary Williams

Mary Lou Williams passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 90. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 5th at the First Baptist Church in Abilene, 1333 N. 3rd St. Interment will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:008:00PM Monday February 4th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Mary Lou was born on April 9, 1922 near Putnam, Texas and was the youngest of 2 daughters of Samuel Marvin Eubank and Lillie Carolyn Pruet Eubank. After graduating from Putnam High School, she attended HardinSimmons University. In 1940, she married Roy Lee Williams, Jr. and began a life long partnership, supporting him in his Christian ministry in Baptist churches across Texas. Among those were the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and First Baptist Church in Houston. While in Houston they were also members of West University Baptist.

In 1999, she and her husband moved back to Abilene where they enjoyed reuniting with friends and family members in West Texas. They were loyal members of First Baptist Church. They were married for 70 years.

Mary Lou was a devoted Sunday School teacher her entire life, sharing her understanding of the scriptures and caring for others. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and friendly peacemaking nature. She dedicated her life to serving others and blessed those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Williams, Jr. sister, Velma Sissy Gilbert and parents.

She is survived by two sons, Marvin Lee Williams, Hollis Dale Williams and wife Ann 5 grandchildren, Jimmy, David, Jamie, Adrienne, and Lindsey Williams 4 greatgrand children, Mackenzie, Parker, Raylee, and Case Williams and her beloved nephew, Daryl Hardman.

The family would like to thank Royal Estates, Mesa Springs, and Hendrick Hospice Care for the love and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Roy Lee and Mary Lou Williams Scholarship at HardinSimmons University.
