Maryanna Margaret Bednar, 59, of Abilene passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Maryann was born on May 10, 1959 to the late Fred Charles Bednar and Yoshimi Takemizu Bednar in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Marketing. Maryann was working as a Bid Administrator for Ranger Plant Construction at the time of her passing. She enjoyed traveling to her next food adventures with family and friends. Maryann was passionate about several causes, always fighting for what she believed was right and remained active in volunteering in spite of her battle with cancer. She also gave of her free time to "her ladies" that she befriended in nursing homes as long as she was able. She loved the Lord and her "family" at Gateway Baptist Church in Tuscola, Texas as well as her "adopted family" at Ranger Plant Construction in Abilene.
Maryann is survived by her brother Fred Stephen Bednar of Abilene; sister Arlena Thane and husband Rick of Tuscola; niece Cara Holt and husband Buddy of Abilene, niece Jennifer Hughes of Tuscola; great aunt Madeline Eglit and husband Hans of Hot Springs, Ark. Her two great nephews Devyn Holt and Gregory Hughes were the lights of her life whom she adored.
Maryann had a feisty, yet beautiful spirit and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
