Melba Swift

Melba M. Swift, 83, of Abilene passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 16 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Private burial will be at Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 at the funeral home.

Melba was born on May 17, 1932 to the late Duke Chaffin and Zelma Barnett Chaffin near Little Rock, Arkansas. She married Hugh Swift on June 29, 1950 in Waco, TX and passed away 2 weeks shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. Melba was a homemaker, fabulous wife and a wonderful mother. She love to tend to her plants and flowers, was a great cook and enjoyed reading.

Melba is survived by her husband, Hugh; daughter, Shelly Taylor and husband Gary of Wichita Falls; grandson, Tanner Taylor of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Violet Kuchera and husband Rudy, Joanne Upchurch; brother, Duke Chaffin.
