Melba Wilson

Melba Ruth Wilson, 88, of Abilene, TX passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Abilene TX.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Melba was born on August 15, 1933, in Atwell, TX to the late Delmer Theodore Lavender and Blanche Mildred Shaw Lavender. She was the only girl of 5 children and grew up to be tough and a bit stubborn. Melba married Hollis D. Wilson on August 5, 1965. They were inseparable and were blessed with 55 years of marriage until his passing on January 13, 2020. Melba enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed arrowhead hunting, crafts and won many awards for her crocheting.

Melba is survived by her children, Debbie Brink and husband Walter, Tommy Wilson, Ed Wilson; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; nephews, Delmer Stub Lavender and wife Cecilia, Larry Lavender; nieces, Karla Moody, and husband Mike, Michelle Scott, and husband Tommy, Wilda Jean Haverkamp and husband Don, Brenda Hudson and husband Chuck, K'Ann Gregory; extended family and friends.

Melba was also preceded in death by her daughter, LaDeana Ruth Toche; brothers, Delmer Eugene Lavender, Cohy Lee Lavender, Wheeler Arthur Lavender, Willard Lavender.
