Melissa was born on October 7, 1971, to proud parents James and Peggie Wasson in Paris, Texas. Growing up in Paris, she cultivated a spirit of warmth and compassion that would define her life's journey. Her heart overflowed with love, a trait she exhibited effortlessly throughout her existence.

Fate intervened when she crossed paths with John Bargelski, the love of her life, through the unlikely avenue of Plenty of Fish. Their encounter blossomed into a profound partnership, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. At that point she made her journey to Abilene, Texas.

Known for her infectious laughter and jovial spirit, Melissa was affectionately dubbed the "Wardin" in her home—a testament to her playful nature combined with a steadfast resolve. Her genuine warmth and quick wit endeared her to all who knew her, and she possessed a rare gift for bringing joy into the lives of those around her.

Beyond her endearing humor, Melissa was a beacon of strength and resilience, especially evident in her role as a mother. Her children held a sacred place in her heart, and she fiercely protected and nurtured them with unwavering devotion. Her love knew no bounds, and she instilled in them the values of compassion, kindness, and unconditional love.

Melissa's culinary prowess was renowned among her loved ones. A talented cook, she generously shared her skills, ensuring that her recipes and techniques would be cherished and passed down through generations. Her kitchen was not just a place of nourishment but also a space where bonds were strengthened, and memories were made.

In addition to her roles within her family, Melissa dedicated herself to serving others through her volunteer work with Love and Care Ministries. Her selflessness and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals, particularly the homeless, who found solace in her comforting presence and genuine care.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Melissa's faith remained unwavering. Her journey was a testament to the power of belief and the transformative nature of hope. Even in the face of adversity, she found strength in her relationship with the Lord, drawing closer to Him with each passing day.
