Melvyn Safer

Melvyn Safer passes away April 6, 2013 at the age of 79 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his daughter Minette Louis Safer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Safer daughter, Vicki Safer of Bayview Texas daughter, Tammy Allison and husband John Allison of Friendswood Texas grandchildren, Jeffrey Allison and Shelby Allison of Friendswood Texas.
Mel was a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1955 with a B.S. in Commerce. He started his own insurance agency in 1963, and it was one of the largest in the Clear Lake area. He was a pilot and served as active duty military in the Air Force, until he retired from the Air National Guard in 1979 with the rank of Major.
He will be buried on Tuesday at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
