Michael Anderson

November 24, 1947 — January 23, 2015

Michael "Mike" B. Anderson Sr., 67, of Abilene passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 26, at 3:30 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service Mike will be cremated. A visitation with the family will be held Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mike was born on November 24, 1947, in Haskell, TX to C.D. Anderson and Lorelle Millican Anderson. He was very active in high school athletics and was a 1966 graduate from Cooper High School. Mike joined the U.S. Army and served his country as a reservist. He married Mary Martine Mays, the love of his life, on December 27, 1969, in Odessa, TX. He was a wonderful father to Amy and "Mickey". Mike coached many of their sports teams and served as President of the Cooper High School Football Booster Club.

Mike was well known for his work as a nurse for West Texas Rehab, Windcrest, Hospice, and home health agencies throughout the big country. His passion and mission was helping people and families, sometimes at their worst times, as a caretaker. Mike dearly loved all his dogs.

Mike is survived by his wife, Martine; daughter, Amy Anderson Patterson and husband Philip; son, Michael "Mickey" Brent Anderson Jr.; mother, Lorelle Anderson; Sister, Michelle Anderson Schmidt; nephew, Andy Quinn; dear cousins, Marsha Elliott and husband William; logtime friends Steve and Karen Barker who put Mike and Martine together; numerous family and dear friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, C.D. Anderson.
