Michael Henry Martin, 68, passed away Sunday, October 06, 2013. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with interment following the service at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 till 8 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Elmwood Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the service will be Dave Keown, Russell Peables, Chuck Estes, Mark Best, Kevin Taylor, and Les Huff
Michael Henry was born February 8, 1945 in Abilene, TX. He was married to Carol Bates on January 15, 1974 in Abilene, TX at Highland Church of Christ, where theyre members.
Michael graduated from Pecos High School in 1963 and then attended South Plains Junior College as a music major. He then worked at KNIT radio in Abilene as a D.J., and KTXS in Sweetwater on his talk show, Henrys Den. He owned and operated his own recording studio, Castle Sound Production in Abilene for over 30 years. He was a successful producer and engineer and a professional musician and accomplished vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He was passionate about music, and loved playing in his bands, The Topics and Slow Motion Monkey.
Michael is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol of Abilene daughter, April Estrella and husband Robert of Rowlett son, Wes Martin and wife Amanda of Wylie, TX three grandchildren, Eli, Judah, and Copeland two sisters, Joyce Osborne and husband Robert of Abilene and Malta Lusk, also of Abilene and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to West Texas Rehab, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605.
