Michael Osborn

Michael Duane Osborn, 60, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Remembrance under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.

Michael was born on November 2, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico the son of DT Osborn and Marie Giannetto Osborn. He grew up in Odessa, graduated from Permian High School and attended Odessa Jr. College before completing his BS at the University of Texas at Arlington. He also attended UTMB at Galveston. After college, he became the Athletic Director and gymnastics coach for the YMCA of Abilene for 25 years and really enjoyed being a role model for young people. He later worked as a cinema manager for the AMC movie theater chain. After retiring early, he enjoyed traveling, reading and exercising.

Survivors include his sister, Marina Beth Osborn DeMerritt and husband Terry of Tyler; his brother, Stephen Osborn and wife Debbie of Abilene; four nieces, who enjoyed his sense of humor, Stephanie Osborn Rushing of Lubbock, Kendel Osborn of Midland, Wendy Schiller of Longview, Washington, and Adriana DeMerritt of Vancouver, Washington.

His parents preceded him in death.
