Michael Woods

Michael (Mike) Henry Woods, 63, left us to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, in Abilene.

A visitation with the family will be held Monday, January 5 from 6-8 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 6 at 1:00PM at St. James United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mike was born on March 28, 1951, in Abilene, Texas to the late Clifford Woods and Christina Walther Woods. He served his country for over 15 years in the United States Navy, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Stiles. Mike and Dorothy were married on February 18, 1978, in Nicktown, Pennsylvania. A few years after moving back to Abilene, Mike discovered his passion working as a shop foreman for Tesco Equipment and Supply Company for over 35 years. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; a jack of all trades; and our go-to handyman. He touched the lives of all who knew him and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his wife Dorothy; sons, Sean Woods of Hinesville, Georgia and Mark Woods of Abilene; daughter, Crystal and husband Ricky Barringer of Abilene; 2 brothers, Harold Woods and wife Carolyn, Ray Woods; 4 sisters, Cecilia Sprague and husband Richard, Marie Woods, Earlene Bloomfield and husband Bob, Martha Whetsel; mother, Christina Woods of Abilene; grandchildren Lisa Clark, Brandon Woods, Ashton Woods, Alison Reeves, Connor Reeves, Ian Barringer, Emma Barringer and Carmen Woods.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Woods and his mother In-law, Arveda Stiles.
