Mildred Lavender

December 23, 1929 — February 10, 2015

Mildred Faye Lavender, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Frankston, TX. Visitation will be 7 till 8 PM, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Born in Alba, Texas December 23, 1929. She spent her earlier years in Orange, Texas and Big Spring where she met her husband of 64 years. They married in Hobbs, N.M. and lived there until 1962 when they moved to Abilene, then to Dallas in 1972. They retired back in Abilene in 1984 before living out their lives at Lake Palestine. Mildred was a loving and caring person whose children were her top priorities. She raised them to know the Lord.

She is survived by a son, Larry Lavender; a daughter, Brenda Hudson and husband Chuck; grandchildren, Michelle Braswell and fiancé Rex Varner, Barry Holcomb and fiancé Lauren Fields, Tara Sims and husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Tate Sims, Aidan and Zoe Holcomb and Cara Braswell. Mildred is also survived by a sister in law, Melba Wilson and husband Hollis; brother in law, Willard Lavender and wife Connie and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cohy Lee Lavender.
Special thanks to Cheryl Gee for the special care she gave to Mildred the last four years of her life.

Mildred is now at peace after years of crippling pain from rheumatoid arthritis.
