Mildred Mickey Meredith, 86, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Abilene.
Graveside service will be held Saturday July 26, 2014 at 9:30 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park and Merlin Marrow will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.
Mickey was born on September 19, 1927 to the late Rev. Arlie Watson and Inez Coker in Colorado City, TX. She graduated high school and majored in music at HSU. Mickey married Gerald Pardue in 1946. He passed away in suddenly in 1952. Mickey married Dr. William Page Meredith, a widower in 1955 and they relocated to Del Rio. Dr. Meredith preceded her in death in 1976 as did a son, Sterling Meredith. Mickey loved music and was very active musically and in her church. She was the Director of Childrens Church at University Baptist Church in Abilene. She wrote the curriculum used in the childrens education for many Baptist Churches. Mickey also was instrumental in bringing community concerts to Del Rio and was active in the music club. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene. Mickey played her music right up until a week before her passing.
Mickey is survived by her daughter, Linda Park of Amarillo son, Billy Meredith of Raleigh, NC sister Nita Meads of Abilene, TX brother, Rev. Arlie Watson of Salisbury, MD sister, Wanda Robinson of Fort Worth, TX many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Memorials in Mickeys honor may be made to First Baptist Church Missions, 1333 N. 3rd St. Abilene, TX 79601.
