Mildred Sutton

June 27, 1920 — June 26, 2016

Mildred Rogers Sutton, formerly of Midland, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. She was born June 27, 1920 in Madison County, Arkansas to Alfred and Lena Mosteller Rogers. She was one of eight children. She graduated from Huntsville High School. She was a very hard worker. During World War II, she built airplanes in Tulsa. She married Roy K Sutton in 1945. They were married over 53 years. She was a registered Home Day Care owner for over 30 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by three children; Carol Schweikhard and husband Mike of Abilene, Don Sutton and wife Lisa of Melissa, Texas, and Kent Sutton of El Paso; one sister Luna Johnson of San Pablo, California; five grandchildren, Sara Triplett, Scott Schweikhard, Alissa Sutton, Garrett Sutton, and McKenzie Sutton; and three great-grandchildren: Wylie Triplett, Parker Triplett, and Theo Schweikhard. She was preceded in death by her husband, her three brothers, and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Wisteria Place and Hendrick Hospice for the care and compassion given her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hendrick Hospice, Meals on Wheels, or to a charity of your choice.
