Miles Rand

September 26, 1991 — August 28, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Miles Rand, a young man whose life was a testament to passion, dedication, and unwavering spirit. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in the First Baptist Clyde chapel, 216 Austin St.

Born on September 26, 1991, in Abilene, Texas to Mark and Sandy Rand, Miles brought boundless joy and charisma to everyone he encountered. His sudden departure on August 28, 2023 has left an irreplaceable void, but his legacy of determination and kindness will forever be etched in our hearts. From a young age, Miles displayed a remarkable enthusiasm for life. His childhood was marked by his love for sports, as he fearlessly tackled football fields, soccer matches, and shooting ranges with equal fervor. These early pursuits not only forged his resilience but also laid the foundation for the competitive spirit that defined his journey.

Miles graduated from Clyde High School in 2010, leaving an indelible mark on his peers and teachers alike. Continuing his academic journey, Miles earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in 2015, a testament to his hard work and intellectual curiosity. Undeterred by challenges, he pursued his passion for geophysics, ultimately obtaining his master's degree from the same institution in 2018. His achievements were a source of immense pride for his family and an inspiration to those who knew him.

As a geophysicist, Miles carved a niche for himself in the world of science and exploration. His work at CrownQuest was a reflection of his commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and understanding. With a mind attuned to the intricacies of the Earth, Miles left an indelible impact on his field, solidifying his status as a rising star.Beyond his professional pursuits, Miles found solace and exhilaration in the great outdoors. His love for riding dirt bikes and his avid pursuit of hunting allowed him to forge a deep connection with nature. These hobbies were not merely pastimes; they were a reflection of his adventurous spirit and his unyielding desire to explore the world around him. When Miles wasn't taking part in his outdoor hobbies, he was spending time with those that mattered most to him, his family and friends. His old soul, contagious laugh, and his undeniable charm and wit were what always made him the life of the party.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Anna Looney, Albert and Shirley Rand; and his aunt Chloa Hayden McIntosh.

Miles' memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Mark and Sandy Rand; the love of his life, Amanda Kimble; his sister, Kirstie Clevenger and her husband Donovan; his niece and nephews, Harper, Kase, and Owen; his grandma, JoAnn Cotten; his aunts and uncles, Albert Rand, Chris Locke and wife Lashea, Debbie Mason and husband Sheldon, Monica Locke, Mike Dillon and wife Lisa, George Hayden and wife Sally, Sam Hayden and wife Cissy; and numerous cousins and a wide circle of friends.
