Mina L. Fields Huff, 81, of Abilene, TX, has gone home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 12th, 2017 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. A home going celebration will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 608 Nth 7th St., Abilene, TX. Burial will follow in the Abilene City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mina was born October 15, 1935 in Abilene, Texas to Andrew Ivory and Isabella Rhodes. She was a loving mother and grandmother, great grandmother. Her hobbies include porcelain dolls and cooking, baking cakes and going to Nelson Park to feed the ducks. She was a nurse starting her career at West Texas Medical Center and retiring at Abilene Regional for a total of 41 years. Upon retiring she worked at Southwest Home Health for 15 years. She was an active member at N 10th and Treadaway Church of Christ until her failing health.
She was a firm believer of family values and always believe in caring for family and others.
Mrs. Huff is preceded in death by her parents, several brothers, stepson and step daughter.
She is survived by her children; sons Gregory, Ricky, Gerome, Byron, and Van Huff (Harriett); daughters, Lois Edwards(Bobby), Jacqueline Brooks(Anthony), Angela Fields, Janet Freeman(Shawn), Deborah Spears(Richard), Michelle Curtis(Keturah); brothers Lawrence Horn(Lee Ester), Wayne Rhodes, Roosvelt Rhodes; sisters Mildred Hutcherson(Gregory) and Betty Jones(Daryl)
She is survived by 32 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; Aunt Hattie Washington and best friend Mary Weatherman; adopted son Billye Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
