Miriam Alleen Whipple, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and fond friend to many, passed away Sunday evening August 19, 2007, at Hendrick Medical Center after an extended illness. Miriam was born to Richard Barton and Josephine Hunt Barton November 23, 1920, in Goldthwaite, Texas. Miriam married Ray W. Whipple November 14, 1942 in Odessa, Texas and retired in Abilene in 1972, following Rays retirement from the United States Air Force.
Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and husband, Ray W. Whipple. She is survived by a sister, Mary Alice Scroggins of Stephenville, Texas, a daughter, Rae Jean Reagan and her husband Dave of Burleson, Texas, and two sons, Randolph B. Whipple and his wife Marilyn of Wichita, Kansas and Richard F. Whipple and his wife Terri of Abilene, Texas. Grandchildren include Garry and Richard Todd of Ft. Worth, Bill Reagan of Daytona Beach, Florida, Jennifer Whipple Griffin of Dallas, Matthew and Ryan Whipple of Wichita, Kansas. She had three Great-grandchildren.
Services, officiated by the Reverend Jack Ridlehoover, will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. at Elmwood Memorial Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606, with interment following at Elmwood Memorial Park.
The family expresses its appreciation to Miriams caregivers, Eugenia Burton, Joyce Day and Jackie Mesecher, who assisted in extending her ability to remain at home for the last 10 years. We are truly grateful for your loving care and kindness.
