Monico Jaques Jr.

Monico Jaques Jr. better known to friends as "Jr.", passed away Friday September 24, 2021. Monico was born April 29, 1935 in Rowena, TX to Monico Sr. and Francisca Jaques. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 51 years, Avelina Jaques. Both were members of Holy Family Catholic Church and longtime residents of Abilene, TX. Devoted to one another, they shared a spirit of adventure, travel, camping, and lake life, always accompanied by their loving family. Monico built a company with his brother Jaques Construction. His ingenuity and love for engineering lasted throughout his life. He is most remembered for his sense of humor, charisma, and natural musical talent. His outgoing and generous spirit made him a friend to all. Memories we made with him will always be cherished.
Monico is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his siblings, Jesse Jacques, Aurora Garcia, Manuel Jacques, Emelia Luna, Ernest Jacques, and Jerardo "Jerry" Jaques.
He is survived by three daughters, Grace Rodriguez and husband Elias, Rose Mckelvey and husband Mark, and Gloria "Mercedes" Jaques; four sister in laws, Anita Jacques, Alicia Jacques, Dora Jacques, and Elma Jaques; five grandchildren, Marc E. McKelvey, Monica L. Rodriguez, Nicole M. Rodriguez, Sarah A. Camacho, and Jacque D. Camacho; and one great grandchild, Kingston C. Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, with Rosary immediately following.
Funeral service will be Monday, September 27, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Santiago Udayar of Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Gospel.
