MSgt Charlie Clinton Hanna (Ret.) USAF, 79, of Abilene, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Richardson, Texas.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center, 5750 US HWY 277 S, Abilene, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow with military honors at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Charlie was born on August 26, 1943, in Artesia, New Mexico, to the late Charlie Alma “Jack” Hanna and Bertie Walters Hanna. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked his way up to Chief Mechanic for the KC 135 Tanker. His service included a tour in Vietnam and other stations until his retirement in 1984. He married Elsie Dolores Morse, and they were blessed with 43 years together until her passing in 2013. Charlie married Judy Gilbert on October 12, 2014, in Abilene, Texas. Charlie was known for his funny whit and the ability to make anyone feel better. He was very loving, and you always knew where you stood with Charlie. He had a deep love for his family, The United States of America, airplanes, and old cars. He was a licensed pilot as well as a member of the former (C.A.F) formation flyers. He was a man of faith and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Judy Hanna; children, Angela Christenson (Mike), Anthony Hanna Sr. (Adalia), Christopher Dion Hanna (Eve); stepchildren, Gregory Lee Gilbert (Cassie), Angela Dawn Elliott (Chris), Jaycee Nicole Choate; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Peggy Boarman of Williamsburg, Virginia, Homer “Butch” Hanna of Eula, Texas, Louise Calaway of Littlefield, Texas, Douglas Hanna (Lola) Minot, ND; numerous extended family and dear friends.
