MSgt. Jerrid Alen Caverly USAF (Ret), 77, of Abilene, TX passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2021, in Big Spring, TX.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, TX.
Jerrid was born on April 23, 1944, in White Plains, NY to the late Jopsie Caverly and Minnie Fisher Caverly. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. He married Rita Faye Chapman on July 4, 1999. It was never dull when Jerrid was around, and everyone was welcomed with his big heart and open arms. Jerrid was always ready to assist anyone who had a need and volunteered for many organizations. He was a member of the American Legion, and would organize parades, worked with AARP to assist seniors with their taxes and worked the NCOA MDA Telethon. Jerrid was known to say, "If you aint having fun, you aint doin' it right".
Jerrid is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Rita Caverly; daughter, Pam Smith, Jeanne Upchurch (Jeff); grandchildren, Mandy Nichole Alexander (Tony), Brandon Michael Callaway, Rick Upchurch, Dakota Upchurch; great grandchildren, Emery Lynn Alexander, Cambri Nichole Alexander; sister, Linda Campanero (Lou); brother, Joe Caverly; numerous extended family and friends.
Jerrid was also preceded in death by a son, Shawn Everett George and his first wife of 28 years, Darlene Caverly.
