Myrle Mclavish

Myrle McLavish, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Abilene. A memorial service with the Reverend Derrel Watkins officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 3rd in the Wisteria Place Chapel located at 3202 S. Willis.

Myrle was born on July 23, 1914 in Gatesville to James C. and Amma Houston Mayhew. The family moved to Cisco in her younger years and that is where she attended school. She went to nursing school for a short period at Scott White in Temple and then moved to Abilene where she worked many years in the shoe department at Grissoms Department Store.

She married Joe McLavish in 1949 and in 1962, they moved to Northern California. When Joe died in 1988, Myrle moved back to Abilene to be near family and friends. She was a former member of the Abilene Womens Club, The Garden Club and several Bridge Clubs.

Survivors include her son, Aaron Jimmy Johnson and wife Sharon of Marble Falls granddaughter, Erin Mansour Tony of Encino, California brotherinlaw, Douglas Jones of Abilene nieces, Brenda Thomas Steve and family of Weatherford and Carole Kay Brimer Bill and family of Granbury.

Her parents, sister, Nadine Jones, and two brothers, Earl and Ewell Mayhew preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 903, Abilene, Texas 79604.
