On March 15th, 2009, Myrna Loy Pruitt went to be with her Savior after a short illness. Viewing and visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, March 17th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Her funeral service with David Cason officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18th at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 S. 27th with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Memories.
Myrna was born on October 5th, 1938 in Trent, Texas to CA Clinton and Minerva Hanley and moved with her family to Abilene in 1946. She attended South Junior and Abilene High. She worked at Hendrick Medical Center for 25 years and retired in 1995 as Assistant Director of Environmental Services.
Myrna enjoyed reading and sewing as her favorite pastimes but the great love of her life was her family. She has been described as generous, selfless, passionately devoted, caring and tireless. She always had a project and went at it with all she had.
She along with her husband William Bill Pruitt had been members of Broadview Baptist Church for the past three years. Some of their closest friends were members of their Sunday school class and they enjoyed eating out with them every Sunday after church.
She married William Pruitt in 1962, they had been married 46 years at her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ray, Roy, Floyd and Kenneth and an infant grandson, Matthew Norris.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William Pruitt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Melinda Norris of Abilene, Jim and Debbie Norris of Rowlett, John and Mary Norris of Livingston; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Rick Ritchey of Abilene; 9 grandchildren, Clinton Norris of Orange, California, Jennifer Wingate of Hollywood, California, Tait Norris, Jake Norris and Will Norris of Rowlett, Jason Norris, Lance Norris, Nathan Ritchey and Christi Kiser all of Abilene and 4 great granchildren.
