Nancey Priest, 75, passed away June 27, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5 till 7 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Nancey was born November 2, 1935 in San Angelo, TX to Elonzo and Mary Franklin Davenport. She attended high school in Sweetwater, TX. Shortly after high school she married Horace Ebarb and they moved to Dallas where they resided until his passing in 1999. She worked as a Government Reporter for F.W. Dodge McGraw Hill Company for 31 years until her retirement in 1998. She married Dean Priest in June of 2000 and they lived in Snyder, Garland, and Abilene.
Nancey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Dallas. She loved to shop till you drop, decorate for and celebrate the holidays, and always be on the go. Her favorite way to spend her time was anything that allowed her to have all of her family around and having a good time together.
Nancey is survived by her husband, Dean of Abilene two daughters, Tracey Mick of McKinney, Betty Atnip of Houston one son, Scott Priest of Arlington grandchildren, Ariel Hammer, Blake Hammer, Hunter Mick, Grant Atnip, Melanie Wright great grandchildren, Kelsie Wright, Riley Atnip siblings, Bobbie Ellis, Eva Sellers, Claudia Groves, Margie Ross, Mary Banks, Lonnie Davenport and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Earl Davenport, Jessie Duggan, Patsy Davenport, and Junior Davenport.
