Nancy Brisbin

December 12, 1949 — February 18, 2025

Nancy Louvernia Brisbin was promoted to glory on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her home in Abilene, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Family and friends are encouraged to attend her memorial visitation, service, and reception on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 10:00am at Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

Born on December 12, 1949, at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Auora, Colorado, Nancy was the daughter of Harold and Marjorie Spradling. She was the third of four children; her older sister, Loralee; older brother, Brian; and younger sister, Lynne. She was also blessed with a cherished adopted sister, Susan.

As a child, Nancy experienced life in various places due to her father's military assignments during World War II, living at Lowry AFB in Denver, Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, and Eglin AFB in Florida. The family later returned to Colorado, where she graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School in 1968. During junior high and high school, she played the clarinet and participated in choir.

After graduation, Nancy's travels continued as she spent time in Washington State before journeying to Okinawa to be with family. Her love for the Lord and music was a true gift that took her across the world. With her local choir, she had the incredible opportunity to travel to Scotland, sharing her voice in worship. Nancy's adventurous spirit and love for new experiences took her to many places.

Around 1977, Nancy settled in Abilene, Texas, where she raised her three sons: the late Phillip Roy Smith, Andrew Robert Smith, and the late Steven William Smith. A devoted mother, she poured her heart into loving her sons.

Nancy was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church for over 38 years. She actively participated in Bible Study Fellowship, Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Cursillo, and the Sanctuary Choir. In her later years, she cherished friendships at Belmont Baptist Church and later joined Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

Alongside her dedication to family and faith, Nancy built a career with Albertson's, where she worked for over 30 years before retiring.

Nancy married Dwight Brisbin on May 12, 2019, at First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene, Texas, with Cliff Stewart officiating. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and companionship, filled with joy, laughter, and an unbreakable bond. To Dwight, she was more than a wife-she was his "angel", his best friend, and his true love.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Dwight Brisbin; her son, Andrew Robert Smith; her stepchildren, Seraphina Brisbin, Dwight Brisbin (Valarie), and Gabriella Brisbin. She was a proud "Baby Grandma," as lovingly coined by her precious "baby girl," Summer, and she cherished every moment with her grandchildren: Luke Smith, Summer Smith, Sean Sylvester (Brittani), Jeremy Neeves, Alexis Smith, Aiden Smith, and Athena Brisbin. Her great-

grandchildren, Ryan Sylvester, Sydney Sylvester, and Salem Sylvester; as well as her dearly loved sisters, Loralee Connell, Lynne Mestas (John), Susan Raso (Angelo), and Kathy Spradling; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

Preceding Nancy in death were her sons, Phillip Roy Smith and Steven William Smith; her brother, Brian Spradling; her brother-in-law, Lee Connell; her parents, Harold and Marjorie Spradling; and her stepmother, Chico Spradling.
