Nancy Smith, 73, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2025, at Bluff Creek Cowboy Church, 3802 FM 2405, Winters, Texas. Born on February 13, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Walter and Dorcas Hollis, Nancy lived a life full of purpose, kindness, and grace.
Nancy pursued her education at Chico College, San Jose State College, and UCSF, dedicating herself to a lifelong career as a nurse practitioner. With over 50 years of service in healthcare, she began her career in Salinas, California, and for the past 15 years, she was a cherished part of the team at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. Her heart for her patients was unmatched-her care, her kindness, and her genuine connection left a lasting impact on everyone she treated.
On October 24, 1976, Nancy married the love of her life, Glenn Smith, in Carson City, Nevada. Together, they shared 49 beautiful years of marriage, creating a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Nancy was a woman of many talents and passions. She earned her private pilot's license and flew proudly with the Civil Air Patrol. She loved to read, especially during the quiet moments, and she cherished every holiday, always making them feel special for those around her. But above all, family was her heart-especially her treasured Saturday shopping trips with her granddaughters. Humble and kind, Nancy touched lives in ways big and small. Her warmth, her strength, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Nancy is survived by her husband, Glenn Smith; her children, Kerri Smith (Dakota), Zach Smith (Bobbie), Josh Smith (Amanda), and Sara Shaw (Jason); her grandchildren, Dahlton Leake, Cassandra Leake, Madison Smith, Kimber Smith, Briley Smith, Mia King, Cali Yanez, Seth Shaw, and Max Shaw; her great grandchildren, Anson, Adalyn, Amias, Ezra, and two on the way. Her siblings, Jeff Hollis, Davis Hollis (Mark), and Susan Breisch (DJ); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her legacy of compassion and love lives on in her family, her friends, her colleagues, and the countless patients whose lives she touched.
