Nelda Lewis, 82, beloved Wife, Mom, Mother-in-law, Gran, Sister and Daughter, was called home to be reunited with many loved ones on May 17, 2023 surrounded by family. She entered this world on October 17, 1940 in Haskell, TX, born to Mary Cavitt. She is survived by her husband Ken Lewis; daughter Tonya Kendrick; grandsons Larry and Kenneth Kendrick; son Louis Krause; grandsons Justin, Clayton and Joshua Krause; son Mitch Krause, daughter in -law Chris Krause; grandsons David and Adam Krause; daughter Jeanine McNulty; grandsons Sean and Patrick McNulty and granddaughter Cristin McNulty and 7 great-grandchildren; sister Beth Franklin; brother Jerry Cavitt; brother Curtis Cavitt; sister Mary Jo Thomas; step-sister Ann Rosenberry and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Mary Copeland, sisters: Tiny, Melba, Lois, Darlene and Rhonda and brothers: Bud, Brad, Jerry, Glenn and Billy Joe.
Nelda enjoyed her career at First Financial Bank from where she retired after 22 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, involvement in local V-8 Ford Club and driving her 1955 Ford Victoria, time with her grandchildren, playing games and tending to her flowers.
Nelda was known for her infectious smile, laugh and selflessness towards others, especially her family. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren, whom she loved and adored more than anything.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the amazing care that Hendrick Hospice care provided to her in her final days.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20,2023, 2:00 pm, at Elmwood Funeral Home, with internment to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
