Nelva Martin Foster, 93, passed away on January 18, 2021 in Odessa, Texas. Funeral services are pending.
Nelva was born on May 16, 1927 in Brownwood, Texas to Ottie and Silas Martin. At the age of fifteen she moved to Sweetwater, Texas. Nelva attended Hardin Simmons University, where she was a member of the HSU cowgirls Pep Squad. While there, she met A.B. Foster, Jr. They were married July 30, 1948, in Sweetwater and moved to Pecos, in the early 1950's. Nelva enjoyed the ladies in the Twentieth Century Club, playing bridge, and she was an active member in the First Baptist Church. She loved her family and especially loved spending the holidays with them.
Nelva loved people. And people loved Nelva. When she met someone, she would learn all about their life, and she amazingly remembered every detail. All would agree that Nelva was fun and funny, very thoughtful, and looked so pretty every single day. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Nelva was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, A.B. Foster, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Rebecca Yow and husband Field, Melanie Burkholder and husband Duncan, her grandchildren Field Yow III, Natalie Lippard, Ben Foster Burkholder, Kendall Yow, Ellen Cochran, Foster Yow, Clayton Burkholder, and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Cookie, Dora, Elisa, Mary Ann, and Olga for their loving care.
Memorials may be made to Hardin Simmons University, West of the Pecos Museum, or a charity of your choice.
